Children’s Worship Center

Young children and worship describes an exciting way children experience God while learning about God.  Young children and worship use a sensorimotor style of story telling as a primary means for encountering God.  So God is experienced not just learned about.  It gives appropriate freedom so young children can respond to stories of God through continually working with the story figures and art materials.  The young children and worship experience is primarily visual, oral and kinesthetic.  The children experience wonder, mystery and the presence of God.  In the Worship Center we focus on the foundational and essential components of worship.  Also on the biblical stories that give content to the images, symbols and actions of worship.  We follow the church year.  It tells time by celebrating the events of Jesus’ birth, life, death, resurrection, ascension and the gift of the Holy Spirit.  We encourage families with young children to come and visit.  We are Excited to share the stories!

Our children’s worship center is for ages 4-8 yrs of age.  And is held during the school year.

This is the season of Advent, the time we get ready to celebrate the mystery of Christmas, the time we are all on the road to Bethlehem. But who can show us the way?
The prophets. Prophets listen to God. Prophets care about the world like God cares. Prophets lift up their prayers to God.
Isaiah was a prophet that said,” The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has a light shined.”
The candle of the prophets reminds us to listen to God like the prophet Isaiah.
I wonder how the prophets listened to God?…..
I wonder how they knew it was God who spoke?……..
I wonder if there are still prophets today who can show us the way to Bethlehem?………
I wonder what the way to Bethlehem is like?…….

This last part of the year we have heard some Old Testament stories from God. As we finish out the “Growing Time “ season, we will continue with following God’s people through the desert to the Promised Land.
The people of God were still in the desert. After many years they came to the Jordan River.
God said to Joshua, “Don’t be afraid. Lead the people of God into the Promised Land. Have courage. Be strong. I will be with you wherever you go.
The people of Hod passed through the Jordan River on dry land and into the Promised Land.
I wonder what the people of God will do, now that they are in the Promised Land?
I wonder if you have ever been afraid?…….
I wonder how you knew God was with you?…….

God led the people through the waters to freedom and gave them the Ten Best Ways to Live. Now the people of God  were on the way to the Promised Land, the land God promised to give them. The people of God loved the Ten Best Ways to Live so much that they wanted to carry them with them. But they needed a way to come close to something so precious. So God told them how.
It was covered with gold and on top were two golden angels.  And inside they put the Ten Best Ways to Live.
I wonder how it feels to come close to something so precious as the Ark?…….
I wonder how you get ready to be close to God?……..
I wonder how it feels to be close to God?……
I wonder where the Ten Best Ways to Live are now?……..
