Children’s Worship Center

Young children and worship describes an exciting way children experience God while learning about God.  Young children and worship use a sensorimotor style of story telling as a primary means for encountering God.  So God is experienced not just learned about.  It gives appropriate freedom so young children can respond to stories of God through continually working with the story figures and art materials.  The young children and worship experience is primarily visual, oral and kinesthetic.  The children experience wonder, mystery and the presence of God.  In the Worship Center we focus on the foundational and essential components of worship.  Also on the biblical stories that give content to the images, symbols and actions of worship.  We follow the church year.  It tells time by celebrating the events of Jesus’ birth, life, death, resurrection, ascension and the gift of the Holy Spirit.  We encourage families with young children to come and visit.  We are Excited to share the stories!

Our children’s worship center is for ages 4-8 yrs of age.  And is held during the school year.

Children’s Message October 9th, 2022

Once there was someone who said such wonderful things and did such amazing things that people began to follow him. But they didn’t know who he was. So one day they simply had to ask him, and he said…… “I am the Good Shepherd. I know each one of my sheep by name. And they know the sound of my voice. So when I call my sheep they follow me.
We tell the Good Shepherd story in three parts: first we focus on the Good Shepherds leading. Second: we focus on the lost sheep from the fold. But the third part, about the Good Shepherd and the wolf is not told until after Easter. The children construct their image of a Jesus through the Good Shepherd. They relate to the security and safety provided by the Good Shepherd and the sheepfold. The story provides a link to the Lords Supper.
I wonder if the sheep have names?….. I wonder how many sheep really could live in this place?….I wonder if you have ever heard the Good Shepherd say your name?……..

I wonder if the sheep have names?……. I wonder if the sheep are happy in this place?……
I wonder if the Good Shepherd has ever called your name?……..

Children’s Message September 25th, 2022

Sometimes it is very hard to tell how hat time it is. There are all kinds of time. I wonder how the church tells time? …… some day time is a line. It has a beginning…. a middle… and an end. It’s hard to tell beginnings and endings when time is in a line. So let’s take the ending and beginning and tie them together. Now we have time in a circle. The church year puzzle shows us how the church tells time.
I wonder why the church uses colors to tell time?……….
I wonder what special days are in the church year?…….

Children’s Message September 18th, 2022

Once there was someone who said such amazing things and did such wonderful things that people began to follow him. But they didn’t know who he was. So one day they simply had to ask him. And he said, “I am the light.
This story from God centers around how people can become one with the light. Many have come to the light. But the light is not smaller. It is still the same.
I wonder how your light could light other lights?…….
I wonder how you could help others have the light of Christ?…….

Children’s Message September 11th, 2022

We will continue to talk with the children about this special place called the Worship Center. This is a place where we have all the time we need. We enter into this room to hear the stories of God, listen to God, talk to God and experience God. We have been walking more slowly and talking more softly in this special place. We have talked about ways to talk to God. Today we will focus on talking to God in prayer. There are some prayer cards we use to help children with their words to God. Amen, Thanks be to God, Alleluia, and Hosanna. We start with these simple words, then children can use their own special word if desired to talk to God.
I wonder what word or words you may use to talk to God today?……..
I wonder if God has some word or words for you today?………
I wonder how you listen to God?……..I
I wonder if it is hard to listen to God?……..

Children’s Message September 4th, 2022

The worship center is a very special place to be with God. In this place we have all the time we need. We can walk more slowly and talk more softly. So we do not disturb someone who may be talking to God. In the worship center we can hear the stories of God, listen to God, talk the God and experience God.
We will help the children get ready to meet God in the worship center room.
I wonder how you get your heart ready to be with God?……..
I wonder what other ways you can get ready to be with God?…….

Our Children’s Worship is starting back up August 28th, 2022

Worship Center begins today for children ages 4-8.
The worship center is a very special place. It is a special place to be with God. In this place we have all the time we need. So we don’t need to hurry. We can walk more slowly. And talk more softly, because someone might be talking to God, and we don’t want to disturb them. This is a special place to be with God, to talk with God, to listen to God, and to hear the stories of God. So we need a way to get ready to be in such a special place to be with God. We will spend some time learning how to get quiet inside and experience God.

Children’s Message May 29th

Once there was someone who said such amazing things and did such wonderful things that people began to follow him. But they did not know who he was. So one day they simply asked him. And he said, “ I am the light.”
Now the day that you received your light May have been a day when you were very tiny. Or it may be a day when you were grown big. When that happens something is done in the church called baptism. The mother and father and other people bring the baby to the church. Then the pastor calls the baby by name and puts special water on the baby. ……and says the special words, “ I baptize you in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.” And that is what happens on the day you received your light. It is the day you came into the family of families we call the church.
I wonder what it was like on the day you received your light? ……….or
I wonder what it will be like on the day of your baptism?…………….

Children’s Message May 22nd

This is the season of Easter. The time we celebrate that Jesus died and God made him alive again. Alleluia Amen!
Today we retell the parable of The Good Shepherd.  Through the telling of this parable we show the relationship between The Good Shepherd and communion.
Once there was someone who did such amazing things and said such.. wonderful things  that people  began to follow him. But they did not know who he was. So one day they simply asked him. He said,” I am the Good Shepherd. I know each one of my sheep by name. And they know the sound of my voice. so when I call the sheep from the sheepfold they follow me.
I wonder if these sheep have name?…… I wonder if the sheep are happy here?………I wonder where this place might really be?…….. I wonder how many people can come to this table?……. I wonder where they came from?………..

Children’s Message May 8th

This is the season of Easter! It is the time we celebrate the mystery that Jesus died and God made him alive again. We sing, dance and shout our Alleluia’s to God for giving us new life.
The children will again hear the parable of the Good Shepherd. When we get to the point where the shepherd moves through the dark rocky places, we will talk about an ordinary shepherd versus the Good Shepherd. We will also introduce the wolf. The wolf comes to destroy the sheep fold. But the Good Shrpherd stands between the wolf and the sheep and even gives his life for the sheep…. So the sheep can return safely home.
I wonder if the wolf has ever been close to you?…….. I wonder if you have ever heard the Good Shepherd say your name?………
I wonder where this whole place might really be?……

Children’s Message May 3rd

This is the season of Easter, the time we celebrate the mystery that Jesus died and God made him alive again.
After God raised Jesus from the dead, Jesus’ disciples continued to meet on Sunday, the first day of the week.
This Sunday the disciples were happy because last week
they had seen Jesus, alive, in this very room. Jesus had said to them, “ Peace be with you.” But Thomas had not been with them. Thomas said, “ Unless I see and touch the mail marks in his hands and touch his side, I will
Not believe Jesus is alive.”
They closed the doors. But suddenly someone appeared. He said, “Thomas, look at my hands. Come and touch them……. And put your hand in my side. Stop doubting and believe.”
I wonder why Thomas doesn’t believe the disciples when they say, “Jesus is alive?”……….
I wonder how Thomas feels seeing Jesus alive?………
I wonder what the disciples will do now?………
