Once there was someone who said such wonderful things and did such amazing things that people began to follow him. But they didn’t know who he was. So one day they simply had to ask him, and he said…… “I am the Good Shepherd. I know each one of my sheep by name. And they know the sound of my voice. So when I call my sheep they follow me.
We tell the Good Shepherd story in three parts: first we focus on the Good Shepherds leading. Second: we focus on the lost sheep from the fold. But the third part, about the Good Shepherd and the wolf is not told until after Easter. The children construct their image of a Jesus through the Good Shepherd. They relate to the security and safety provided by the Good Shepherd and the sheepfold. The story provides a link to the Lords Supper.
I wonder if the sheep have names?….. I wonder how many sheep really could live in this place?….I wonder if you have ever heard the Good Shepherd say your name?……..
