June Ponderings

Pastor’s June Ponderings: Psalm 1:1 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked
or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and
night.
3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and
whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.
While our schedules change during the summer months, I hope one thing doesn’t
change, meditating on the Word of God! There is more than enough “counsel of the
wicked” making it’s way into our homes through the internet, airwaves, and print.
And this council often changes overnight. Not so the Word of God! It is eternal,
infallible, and inspired by the Holy Spirit.
The psalmist paints a vivid picture to help us see the blessings of meditating on
God’s Word: a tree whose branches are bent under the weight of its fruit, whose
leaves are moist and green and healthy, and whose roots drink deeply from the
streams of life giving water.
May we continue to drink deeply of this Living Water! May our spiritual fruit
continue to grow throughout the summer! May we take counsel from God’s Word
and may it help us discern what is the counsel of the wicked!
Blessed Reading!
